How and When To Test Your Smoke Alarms

A good habit to make is changing the batteries in your smoke alarms every six months, once when we turn the clocks forward an hour during springtime and once when we turn the clocks back an hour during fall. Jay Holcombe, Fire District 13's Fire Prevention Officer, helped me create this video to promote awareness and explain how and when to test your smoke alarms. If you're unable to purchase or install smoke alarms in your residence, then please reach out to the nearest fire department for help. Because of Operation Save a Life, the Louisiana State Fire Marshall provides every fire department in Louisiana with smoke alarms to give to local residents and they will install them free of charge. Please visit our blog for contact information to the fire department nearest you. If you need assistance, then please send an email to kayla@SERVPROofcovignton.com
